France’s new president got off to a shocking start Tuesday when his plane was hit by lightning while flying to Germany.
The jet carrying Francois Hollande, who had just been sworn into office, quickly returned to Paris, Reuters reported.
The French president was not hurt and quickly boarded another presidential plane bound for Berlin.
Hollande, 57, was elected to a five-year term earlier this month after voters — unhappy with the way Nicolas Sarkozy was handling the economic crisis — gave the incumbent the boot after only one term.
